This supplement to the Presbyterian Hymnal presents some of the best offerings in new congregational music from around the world, as well as old favorites and historic classics that the latest denominational hymnal does not contain. As a whole, the collection is designed to complement the hymnal and to give music leaders more choices of songs. In addition to the old favorites and historic classics, musical styles include newer hymns written in a traditional style; music from Europe, Africa, and Asia; African American and Hispanic American music; liturgical chants from the Taize community; and more contemporary contributions.
… This Accompaniment Edition is designed for music leaders, accompanists, and instrumentalists. It includes optional settings for choirs, a keyboard part (piano, organ, synthasizer) to accompany most melodies, other instrumental parts (flute, trumpet, and so forth) as they exist, and guitar chords that include the bass guitar notes. Many selections are presented as full arrangements, complete with introduction, for the entire hymn or song including solo verses, modulation, and extended ending.
