This supplement to the Presbyterian Hymnal presents some of the best offerings in new congregational music from around the world, as well as old favorites and historic classics that the latest denominational hymnal does not contain. As a whole, the collection is designed to complement the hymnal and to give music leaders more choices of songs. In addition to the old favorites and historic classics, musical styles include newer hymns written in a traditional style; music from Europe, Africa, and Asia; African American and Hispanic American music; liturgical chants from the Taize community; and more contemporary contributions.
… This volume is the Pew Edition, designed for congregational use. Harmony is provided where the congregation is to sing in parts. Where the congregation is to sing in unison, only the melody line is provided. (For more voice and instrumental variations, including guitar chords, see the Accompaniment Edition.)
