Sister Simone Campbell to Speak at Hanover College

Her lecture will be the second annual Bill and June Rogers Peace and Social Justice Lecture at Hanover. Since 2004 she has served as executive director of NETWORK, a Washington DC national Catholic social justice lobby. She is a lawyer and famous for the 2012 Nuns on the Bus campaign which toured 9 states arguing in opposition to the Paul Ryan budget which sought drastic cuts to federal funding of safety net programs for the poor.

More recently Nuns on the Bus toured on behalf of comprehensive immigration reform. In Washington she lobbies for these issues, peace-building, healthcare and ecology, advocating systemic change. Her religious community, Sisters of Social Service, for which she earlier served as general director, operates in the USA, Mexico, Taiwan and the Philippines.

Her presentation is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Center for Fine Arts, just north of the Library on the Hanover College Campus.
